"Songs From Clarowood" is a very special musical journey through nine compositions specially selected to accentuate the warm tonality and spirit of the George Nakashima Commemorative Edition Guitar from the Martin Guitar Co. Included are some pieces that you may already be familiar with and some brand new music written for this recording. You will hear this very special guitar featured in solo pieces as well as along with a couple of my other guitars, flute, piano, tablas and percussion.

The George Nakashima Commemorative Edition Guitar was designed and built by the Martin Guitar Co. in cooperation with Mira Nakashima-Yarnall to honor the work, life and legacy of George Nakashima Woodworker.

I had the pleasure to work with the prototype of this guitar last year and to use it in performance at various functions for the Nakashima Foundation For Peace and the Nakashima family.

Mira Nakashima-Yarnall makes a special guest appearance on flute.

"Songs From Clarowood" was conceived as a very special musical project and also as a fundraising vehicle. Proceeds from the sale of the CD will benefit the Nakshima Foundation for Peace. Also any of my previous recording that are ordered at the same time as "Songs From Clarowood" will generate a donation to the Foundation.

"When the members of one guild of craftsmen choose to acknowledge a member of another guild with an elegant example of their work, the world should sit up and take notice. That is exactly what the Martin Guitar Company has done in creating the George Nakashima Commemorative Edition Guitar. From its flawless dovetail butterfly joinery to the use of Nakashima's preferred wood claro walnut and inlays of the Nakashima family crest.

Fingerstyle guitarist Tim Farrell has been associated with the George Nakashima Commemorative Guitar practically from its inception, performing initially on one of two prototypes and offering constructive feedback to the manufacturer. If anyone can bring out the best qualities of this instrument it is Tim with his highly original compositions.

Perhaps it's more than a coincidence that a furniture designer, a guitar manufacturer, and a gifted musician should collaborate in producing this singular recording."
