Mira Nakashima is the daughter of the late George Nakashima, inter-nationally acclaimed Japanese-American woodworker from New Hope. George Nakashima's dream was to offer to each continent of the world a tangible focus for prayer and meditation: a Table/Altar for Peace, Mira has continued the work of her father and is planning to send a peace table to Russia in time for the new millenium. She will be donating a new work of art, "Vessel of Light" to the auction. A special item up for auction is a two-hour studio visit at WHYY with Marty Moss-Coane as she tapes her live radio show, "Radio Times" for National Public Radio. The many other items to bid on include mid-week stays for two at Bally's Park Place and Caesar's Atlantic City Hotel Casino; A day in Washington with Congressman Greenwood. vacation homex on the New Jersey and North Carolina coasts for long weekend and full weeks, orchestra, ballet and theatre tickets, a wine tasting for ten people, an antique wedding dress, etc. There will also be a silent auction during the social hour, which will begin at 5 p.m. A delicious dinner catered by the Cock n' Bull Restaurant will follow. Norval Reece, auctioneer, will conduct the auction. Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for non-members. A special group rate for a table of 10 is $250.
